The year 2008 has been very exciting for all of us. Indeed, there are trials and challenges for every life, for every year, for every industry, but the year that passed has been especially memorable for us because of the intensity of the issues that befell our System.
I would like to think that 2008 is our best year to date. Not only were we able to weather the issues and controversies, we are also on target to hit P50 billion in net income, which is proof that perhaps controversy is good for us. This is the silver lining in our cloud.
In anything, there should always be the spirit of victory. The end of the year is a good time to remember what we have made of ourselves in spite of everything. We owe a lot to hard work, teamwork, and an unbeatable human spirit that simply will not accept defeat. I am proud to have worked with you in 2008. Together we won the battle.
As we end the year that was and face the coming year, we gather together in reading this new issue of Layunin, with its new look, in the spirit of brotherhood and friendship, and in faith that what did not destroy us can only make us stronger.
